Attention All Llama Owners!!

Would you like to have the wool from your llamas spun into yarn that you can use or sell?

You can add your wool to the Third Annual Llama Wool Pool. The wool is sorted into white, black, dark brown, red brown, taupe and multicolored. The average yield of yarn from wool is 72% by weight. The yarn returned to you is the same color as the wool you added to the pool. Your yarn is also returned with washing instructions and patterns for a knitted vest and a felted hat.

You have two options for your wool!

Option 1
Add your wool to the pool, pay for the processing and receive all of it back as yarn for you to use and enjoy.

Option 2
If you do not want any yarn or have all you need, sell your quality wool to Elena and Barb. They will make good use of the yarn for projects within their fiber businesses.

Llama fiber for the spinning mill must be good quality. There is a description of fiber characteristics and an overall rating system for llama fiber. Fiber which is useful for the mill can be easily identified by this method.

Anyone interested in submitting fiber can mail their fleeces to Barb or Elena by July 1997. If you would like more information on the Wool Pool or are interested in starting a wool pool yourself, contact either Elena or Barb.

CONGRATULATIONS ELENA AND BARB! They were each awarded a 1996 Pushmi-Pullu Award by the International Llama Association in recognition of their work on developing a llama wool pool.
